About Ramsay Almighty
Anthony Ramsay “Almighty” is burdened with glorious purpose. The scion of a musical dynasty that began in 1950’s Jamaica, he comes from a long line of multi-talented entertainers whose experiences and accolades are too numerous to list. A product of his environment, Ramsay’s sound fuses his early education in piano and guitar, with a 90’s era Hip Hop tutelage courtesy of his older brothers; not to mention, his own personal exploration of all things musical and artistic, with influences ranging from Robert Longo to Roger Troutman.
Following a series of well-received performances (including a beat battle victory), Ramsay rose to prominence in his hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo with the independent release of his first studio album – Metropolis (2013). The project not only solidified Ramsay’s working relationship with LA-based producer Nova, but also expanded Ramsay’s artistic network in Toronto and Europe.
In 2014, Dutch super producer BoeBoe gave Ramsay the green light to re-work his HW&W records released track “Drift.” The result: the instantly infectious “Last Dance,” a song that quickly won the affection of listeners, garnering the duo a spot on Hypetrak’s coveted monthly playlist. So overwhelmingly positive was the response that Ramsay and BoeBoe are putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled collaborative EP, slated for worldwide release in 2015.
